Using a wildcard Cert for IBCM with SCCM 2012

Currently setting the Internet Base Client Management within an SCCM 2012 environment.  The only cert I have available to me to use is a wildcard Cert.  This cert is to be used on my MP/DP that will sit in the DMZ, along with my SCCM clients (laptops) that will have access to the internet.

I have read up that Microsoft states this can be used but not recommended.   What are your thoughts?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Since it is a valid cert why not use it?

From memory self-signed certs are best avoided for production use, but wildcard certs are OK if that's all you have. I think this falls into the camp of "it would be better not to use wildcards" but as David says, if that's what you have then use it. I'm guessing you don't have a budget to go out and buy a normal cert unlike MS with their deep pockets.
