RDP and Server 2012

We are running Server 2012 and have 2 terminal servers (virtual) that we use RDP to access the desktop.
In the last week or so, whenever we try to log in, we can enter our credentials and then we get a black screen for about 1 minute then is knocks us off.   It won't display the desktop.    If we reboot, we can then access it for a few more times, then it does it again.
What do I need to check?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Are you sure the server hasn't reset itself to only allow on user to log on at a time?

I checked Group Policy and in Computer Configuration\ Administrative Templates\ Windows Components\ Remote Desktop Services\ Remote Desktop Session Host\ Connections the is disabled so should allow multiple logins.
Is there somewhere else I need to check?

Check the settings in Terminal Server/RDP. There are a number of settings relating to log on times..

Can you try a RDP session with   "mstsc /admin"  and check if you also experience the same problem.
Did you already have a look at the terminal server licenses ?
Please also check the Eventlog for error or warning events.

Yes I checked the licenses.   This is a new server install.   I have 50 licenses and only 7 used at the time I was testing.    Checked event logs....Found nothing.

Can you explain further on the mstsc/admin?     What and where?

Sorry...a bit green

Update........Trying again this morning and I see a Winlogon error event ID 4005 that says
The Windows logon process has unexpectedly terminated.

The Start |Run... |mstsc /admin
does start an admin session on the terminal server.
If you run out of licenses then you are still able to logon via this method.

But as the event id is 4005 it's something else, such as:
• System resources are inadequate or unavailable.
• The Windows registry is corrupted.
 •A service failed to start
