Cisco 2960 will not let me serial console in

Dear experts,

I have this Cisco switch 2960 that will let me login using my console cable.

I have attached a screenshot of what it looks like.

The settings should work with are:

9600 baud
8 data bits
2 stop bits
No parity
None (flow control)

Apparently this is not the case for this switch. After it boots gives me gibberish

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

No luck with that at all.

I started out that way...

A colleague said could be the Baud rate

Rainer FranzelTechnical ConsultantCommented:
Yes. Looks like the baud rate.
In the boot phase the baud rate was correct (otherwise you would see no text at all) and is changed in the configuration.
You can try to go through the possible baud-rates up to 115200. (9600, 38400, 57600, 115200)

Keep the 8N1 setting.

Do I need a ctrl break of any sort?

Rainer FranzelTechnical ConsultantCommented:
no, just change the baud-rate and hit enter to generate some new output (that is readable, hopefully)
