RAS IP address on Window 2008

My client's Window 2008 server has been setup with RAS.

Under Window network adapter, only one network card is binded with 192.168.1.12

When I run ipconfig/all, it shows one network card - 192.168.1.12 and RAS (Dial In) Interface - 192.168.1.128. The window has installed with RAS for remote user to login. Any idea where the IP info for 192.168.1.128 locate ? I have read some document and RAS should be configured with two NICs. However, only one NIC can be observed under Window Network Connection...

Tks

RAS (Dial-In) Interface is a virtual network adapter which acquire IP from DHCP for VPN Communication.
you may edit it parameters in Routing and Remote Access properties.

Yes, same setting as yours. What does it mean ? Do you mean RAS (Dial In) Interface - 192.168.1.128 is assigned automatically by DHCP ? how can I change the IP address ? Tks

Muhammad BurhanManager I.T.Commented:
you have to provide static pool in order to assign static IP.
or you can reserve an IP against mac address of the virtual adapter

please share your exact need, why you want to change that IP which actually uses as your RAS Virtual adapter.

also please post ipconfig /all results and DHCP Lease list in which .128 is listed

Attached please find some info. for my client's server setting.

There is only one Hyper-V server and it hosts two VM guest (DC + Exchange) and RAS.

I have checked and no DHCP services is installed on the server. Guessing the DHCP service may lease by their local router.

Back to the RAS, do you mean RAS virtual IP .128 is leased by DHCP ? As there is no DHCP setup inside RAS (my client's setting is same as your attached file), do you mean it just ask IP from the local router ?

Tks again.

you have to verify that IP in router's DHCP lease.

you are on single NIC so the RAS virtual adapter should in the same LAN network and the DHCP is only way to provide LAN network's IP to the virtual adapter.

attached pic in previous comment is the configuration for VPN clients. It is set to assign IPs via DHCP to the clients, you can change that scheme by configuring static pool for the clients.

Yes, DHCP is on router.

So, the RAS virtual IP is leased by DHCP in router ? Not need to have a fixed IP on it as it may be changed ?

Tks again.

the change of ip doesn't affect anything

RAS IP is also leased by DHCP in router, correct ?  Tks

Please verify this in router leases, if router provide the ip so the entry must exist in its lease list and I didn't remember specifically about the ip assigning nature of that virtual adapter.
