outlook not connecting to office 365

A user played with her proxy settings and now no Microsoft product will connect on her laptop. lync or outlook.

can someone advise please

Depends on where these settings were.
If default Windows, it's at Control Panel > Internet Settings > tab Connections > LAN settings button > only upper checkbox should be checked (or none at all).

Then it's probably some third party proxy server problem, of which I cannot tell you anything because you didn't tell me which product is used.
Are you sure you have totally no other problems besides MS Lync & Outlook?
