What to do with SBS2011 after a Cutover Migration to O365

Hello,

We have an SBS2011 Server with 30 users at our main office with most of our company data on and a 2008R2 server at our second office which is a second DC and files which are used locally at the second office. Both sites are connected via a router to router VPN

We are looking to move to Office 365 and i would do this with a Cutover Migration as explained here

My question is what happens to the SBS server after the email migration?

Do i just disable all exchange services and simply use it as a DC and fileserver and/or can i add another DC on new hardware and decommission the SBS server to remove it from the organisation because its getting to the end of its useful life?

Thanks for your insights into this.

Also on another point, would this be a good setup for DFSR?

Thanks

Dave

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can simply cleanup the Exchange mailboxes, Exchange database then stop and disable Exchange services and use the SBS server as a domin controller.

Uninstalling Exchange from SBS server will result in crashing SBS console. Hence disabling Exchange services is recommended.
