VMware Esxi 6 Raid issue?

Hi,

How can I get VMware ESXi 6.0 to recognize my Adaptec 7805 raid card after I have installed the ESXi server.

Any steps. I tried meging the drivers with the ESX custom installer tool but did not seem to pick up the card.

Thanks,

The first thing you *MUST* establish is your

1. server on the HCL

2. storage controller on the HCL

3. is there a driver compiled for ESXi 6.0 or available from the vendor.

Check the VMware Hardware Compatability Lists HCL here

The VMware Hardware Compatibility List is the detailed lists showing actual vendor devices that are either physically tested or are similar to the devices tested by VMware or VMware partners. Items on the list are tested with VMware products and are known to operate correctly.Devices which are not on the list may function, but will not be supported by VMware.

http://www.vmware.com/go/hcl

If you have the driver (VIB) file, all you need to do, is upload to ESXi server via SCP, upload to a vmfs datastore, and execute the esxcli software update install command to install the driver.

Reboot server, and job done.

A quick look on Google, is this your card...

https://www.adaptec.com/en-us/speed/raid/aac/linux/aacraid_vmware_drivers_1_2_1-41024_cert_tgz.php

download the tar bundle, extract and upload and install in ESXi.

There is even a PDF called - ESXi 6.0 ImageBuilder Instructions for Adaptec RAID Controllers, with step by step instructions.

Hi,

I think so for both

The server is an Intel 5000PSL server it says 5.x but does not specifically mention 6 ?

And the raid card is mentioned on 5.1

Thanks,

Ward
