Crystal Reports for VS 2010

I have installed the SAP CR for visual studio.
I am running Visual Studio 2010 Pro
When I look in references there is no report engine option, and inside VS I don't see Crystal Report Viewer
only a report viewer?

What did I miss?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

when installing VS2010, you had an option which you probably didn't select

Eric,

I have uninstalled and reinstalled this product 3 times, I have installed the latest patch three times.
There is no reports engine available and all item in crystal report. reporting etc in the toolbox are greyed out
I have .net3.5 and .net 4.0 installed. I am on a 64 bit system.
I wrote most of the reports in crystal(12of them) and integrated them into a VB6 app faster than I can get this version of crystal for vs2010 installed.

What am I missing,  10 hours of install uninstall following SAP instructions is simply ridiculous

have you run the package from the "Install Executable" column? Have you tried targeting the x86 platform instead of the "any cpu"?

ok you have the correct installation package.

Have you tried targeting the x86 platform instead of the "any cpu"?

Are you building a Windows Forms application?

Eric,

There are NO options, a simple one click install.

Why can't these companies with 75% of the world's software make things less problematic. Every time they decide a new way is better, the developers  and their companies are forced to spend billions re-inventing the wheel every 9 to 18 months, and none of the pieces in these wonderful updates ever work as advertised.  I know you are simply trying to help me, but the things you are asking don't exist when I run the install.  This project is a "not to exceed" project and I'm going to go so far beyond budget simply because MSFT and SAP want to play tough with each other.

I'm just not sure whether to tell the client to find someone else or expect a leprechaun to save me.

Thanks for listening

IN looking for a solution (don't have a VS environment) I came across these.

By default, when you create a new .net 4 Windows Form application, it uses the .net 4 Client Profile framework, not the standard .net 4 framework. Convert it to .net framework standard.

Eric,

I sent you a reply from my iPAd, and it apparently didn't get to you.  I will try this latest change to the forms for crystal in the AM. I'm not near that system right now.

I am not shooting the messenger, he has been too good to me :)

This trick should be publicized to the hilt.  You are a Crystal Guy and you worked with me for two days off and on to find it.
I don't think anyone new to VS and integrating Crystal would have intuitively figured this on out.

A High Five for your determination, and ability to deal with my dislike of MSFT's attitude towards small companies.

I couldn't recommend you highly enough.

This allows the basic interaction between VS and Crystal correctly.
