Server wont boot.

I have a windows 2008 server that is telling me the "winload.exe" is damaged. However, when I try to run sfc /scannow I keep getting the message a system repair is pending. How do I force sfc/ scannow to run? I have also tried running sfc the offline way too, doesnt work.

This is the command to run when booted offline at a recovery command prompt

dism.exe /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

This should clear the pending actions and allow you to run SFC.

Just an update, I booted to ERD Commander and it looked to have tried to repair the "winload" file. ERD rebooted the server and now the server is trying to boot, but blue screens during the windows logo and progress bar. Im about to try SFC again from the windows CD.

Well shockingly, ERD commander appears to have repaired the server and fixed the issue.
