calculating start and end date

Hi
I need to write a condition in my query to give a list of all employees:
-active employees
- employees terminated within the last 30 days of their termination date

tunc(sysdate) between x.start_date and nvl(y.termination_date +30, x.end_date)

not sure about calculation of the section in bold

thanks in advance

The condition is more like, where trunc(termination_date) > SYSDATE -30.  I don't grasp how you want active employees mixed in.

Assuming that END_DATE is NULL for active employees, employees don't start in the future, and that employees aren't terminated in the future......

Active would be:

X.END_DATE IS NULL

Terminated in the last 30 days would be

Y.TERMINATION_DATE > TRUNC(SYSDATE) - 30

Putting that together, you would get:

(X.END_DATE IS NULL OR Y.TERMINATION_DATE > TRUNC(SYSDATE) - 30)
