Message exceeds size limit (#5.3.4)

Your message couldn't be delivered because the recipient's email system reported the following error: '550 Message exceeds size limit (#5.3.4)'. It's possible it's a temporary issue with their email system. Try to resend the message. If the problem continues, contact the recipient by some other means (by phone for example) and ask them to tell their email admin about the problem. Be sure to give them the error above, as it will better help them diagnose the problem.

For Email Administrators
This error is being returned by the recipient's email system but it doesn't include a valid, specific, enhanced SMTP status code, making it difficult to assess exactly what the problem is. Please carefully examine the error reported by the recipient's email system to help diagnose and troubleshoot the problem. Only the recipient's email admin will be able to fix this.

spamserver.net gave this error:
Message exceeds size limit (#5.3.4)

Note: nothing has changed on the server and we've not had this limit in the past, couple things:
1. checked with the ISP confirmed no restrictions.
2. New firewall however don't believe it's the problem. If anyone has any info regarding email restrictions with a Sonic Wall firewall let me know.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The recipient email system has size limitation, its not at your side.
Did your recipient send you the error code ?
WORKS2011Austin Tech CompanyAuthor Commented:
Yes, the recipient sent the code. The error above is me testing from my own account so it's not on the recipient side. Failed with a @me.com and another domain, both with the same error.
Muhammad BurhanManager I.T.Commented:
Are you hosting it in-house or is it hosted by smarthost ?
Has Powershell sent you back into the Stone Age?

If managing Active Directory using Windows Powershell® is making you feel like you stepped back in time, you are not alone.  For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why.

Muhammad BurhanManager I.T.Commented:
Give a try with setting up the valid size limit say 50mb instead of unlimited.
Amit KumarCommented:
can you provide full header information to analyze
Muhammad BurhanManager I.T.Commented:
Set-ReceiveConnector -Identity Defaultconnector -MaxMessageSize 54096

Where “Default connector” is the name of your default frontendTransport Connector and MaxMessageSize is set to 54mb.
after that you have to restart the 'Security Accounts Manager' service from Services.msi.

it can be done with EAC
Mail Flow > Maximum Receive message size

It seems this error code is created by Gateway server not a exchange server.

I am not sure, but if your getting same error for while sending email to another domain too, then you need to have a look in your gateway/email hygiene system for email size limits.

If this is generated by recipient email domain, then they have to look at their gateway/email hygiene system.

Naushad, I've thought it's maybe the Sonic Firewall however haven't been able to pinpoint anything in the logs. Are you familiar with Sonic firewalls?
WORKS2011Austin Tech CompanyAuthor Commented:

Naushad getting this for you now.

Question, the smart host wouldn't have anything to do with it, correct? This is only for outgoing mail (outside the organization).
WORKS2011Austin Tech CompanyAuthor Commented:
Appears to be on the Outlook side which is strange that there's over 100 users, how would Outlook make this limitation all at once. Your thoughts.

Actual error: outlook error
