Odd Safari Behaivor on iPad

Please look at www.rain1.com on an iPad.

Note the menu items across the top; what is supposed to happen, and does happen in FireFox & Chrome in Windows and in Safari on iMac, when the mouse moves over the menu items (like PAYMENTS, at the end), a dropdown of choices appears.

Why does that not happen on the iPad?

There is no hover action on an iPad that I know of.  If you press a finger on 'Payments' the dropdown appears and I see 'Pay Online' and 'Service Agreements'.

@ 1024px - 768px there is a conflict with your menu and the 'service request' (the gray button usually at the top right) is overlapping your 'Search' menu option.

It looks like the media query is not being handle for iPad resolutions, specifically your menu and the two gray buttons at the top right of the window.

I understand the lack of "hover" on the touch devices.

But on my iPad, if I tap PAYMENTS on the main page, there is no dropdown. Nor on any of the other main menu items. I don't know how to determine the IOS level I am on now, looked around settings, can't find it.

Thanks for those comments about the css / screen layouts. I inherited the site and the customer has not complained, so I ignore.

Those things work fine in FireFox & Chrome on an Windows 7 desktop or lap top

Kyle Santos,

I did the clears. Same thing.

BUT, I discovered that on the main page there are picture links (farther down) to some of the other pages. For example "Irrigation Repair". If I go there, the menu links work on tapping. But NOT on the main page.

Very odd.

The IOS I have is IOS 9.0.2.

Thanks
Interesting.  Thanks for the update.  Is there anything else I can help you with regarding the weird behavior?

It appears you and I have the same iPad iOS version and Safari.  I am not sure why I cannot recreate the same issue you're having on your iPad. :(
Kyle Santos

This issue came up because the end customer has reported that some of his customers using Safari cannot pay online.

I suspect they are getting the same behavior I am; tap on payments, nothing.

I have a friend with a Mac, she tried it, worked fine.

I asked my go between on this who manages all customer contact to try his iPad; we shall see what he gets.
1.  I confirmed on my macbook Safari browser I can click Payments in the menu and click Pay Online.  I am then directed to rain1.com/payment/payment_akamai.php page.

2.  I confirmed on my iPad Safari browser I can click Payments in the menu and click Pay Online.  I am then directed to rain1.com/payment/payment_akamai.php page.

I'm not having any issues as you are describing.  I see visual displays that need fixing as seen from the screenshots earlier, but I am able to get to that payments page that you are saying you cannot get to.

Are you able to try your iPad on a different wifi connection and see the result?  ie if you're at your work wifi, try on your home network, or vice versa.
There is no solution on my iPad; my cohort's works, so I'll just live with it.
