I have 2x8G memory on my PC ( I'd like to add another 2x8G but can I use a different brand like Will it work?

It depends on the PC... Some motherboards can accept more RAM, while others are "maxed out" either because of available slots or max addressable RAM...

They are the same ddr3 rating, voltage, voltage rating should work.

The one referenced is for a board that should work.
On new boards, you have. Rely on the hardware memory compatibility list from the board manufacturer.

The risk/cost Is low.

Does the current system ever reach a point that it is using more than 50% of installed memory? If not, you can add.  More but not sure whether you need it.

in 99% of the cases yes you can mix and match. Sometimes you need a bios update.

Yes, those modules should work together with no problem.

The most important thing that must match is the voltage ... and in this case both sets are 1.5v modules.

It's best is the speed also matches (in this case it does -- they're both DDR3 1600); but that's not as important ... if they were mismatched the BIOS would simply run all modules at the lowest speed.

Ditto the latency ... in this case the set you have has a one cycle longer latency setting; so that's what will be used for all of the memory when you install the other pair.

One caveat:   With unbuffered modules, you can sometimes have issues if you install 4 modules, due to the degradation of the address and data signaling on the memory bus caused by this much loading.    It can generally be resolved by slightly increasing the voltage; or by adding an extra latency cycle (to allow more "settling time" for the signals); or perhaps both.    The only way to know for sure if this is an issue is to try it.

I believe I have the ASUS P8Z77-M PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard. I think it can support up to 64 gigs of memory. Thx

Actually it supports up to 32GB -- 4 8 GB modules.

However, as I noted, when you install more than 2 modules, you may have to adjust some of the parameters to increase the reliability, as 4 modules can result in stability issues due to bus loading.    That's why server boards tend to use buffered RAM, so the loading is one load/module instead of 16 (or more).

i try to use the same model of ram sticks -  to avoid possible problems
but i have successfully used a mix of ram on Asus boards too

if unsure -  check the asus site

it seems the board supports not many models; in such a case - you're on your own
i could not find the ram you posted in the list
The supported vendor list is only valid I found when the board is brand new(release wise) as well as the memory technology being used is fairly new.
I.e. The board using a new chip/socket with a new memory.
The list is often updated within the first year if needed.
