The reason why I ask is because I just purchased a pocket drive from Dell, when I plugged it in it asked me to format, and it's been going for 24h, which seems odd. &nbsp;Can the drive be defective, or is it normal?

The reason why I ask is because I just purchased a pocket drive from Dell, when I plugged it in it asked me to format, and it's been going for 24h, which seems odd.  Can the drive be defective, or is it normal?

Formatting a 2TB USB

Storage devices include any device used for storing and retrieving digital information. Hard disk drives (HDDs) use one or more rigid ("hard") rapidly rotating disks (platters) coated with magnetic material.
