Exchange 2013 Archiving

Hi

I created an Archive Databse and enabled it for myself as a test, I then opened outlook and could see that the Archive - username mailbox existed.

then I noticed mail etc automatically moving into there and also retention policy (somewhere) deleting mail.

I thought by default this was a manual drag and drop thing, where can I change the retention policy for the archive database?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

By default out of the box is a policy to auto-archiving. It is important understood how works. You can setup retention tags that will used with retention policy to apply desired configuration:

I suggest you, create new retention policy and do nothing on it, then apply to your user: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150573(v=exchg.150).aspx
