Inbuilt datepickers can be problematic mainly because they are not always available on users' computers. Have a look at the alternatives here:

Roy_Cox,

thanks. but the link you share is not helping me.

i was able put up something together from the web search.

now , when you right click it shows a "Insert Date" button and when select that it will pop the datepicker which works.

how could i change this that in stead of having this via right click menu. i want to be able to double click on the cell and then the datepicker is fired up?

any help is appreciated.

Hi Martin

The MonthView control is not available in Excel 2016, certainly not in mine. I'll check with earlier versions later.
Flora bprovide a little more information as to why it is not helping. Those examples have been used numerous times by other people.
Martin.  you are a legend

thanks very much.  your solution was perfect

All the examples will work in 2016, indeed they should work in all earlier versions of Excel. Did Martin's work in 2016 because it would not work for me using 2016 because of a missing control. This issue is why I would recommend not using the ActiveX controls especially if you are sending the workbook to other users who may have different versions of Excel
thanks Roy,
