SHA-2 on Windows 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2

We have a Windows 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2 with a SHA-1 certificate.
We can't upgrade the O/S at this time and we're constantly receiving
alerts from the Certificate issuer about upgrading SHA-1 to SHA-2.
Will SHA-2 certificate work with Windows 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2 ?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
