I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The error message looks explicit to me. Are you running the setup as a local administrator of the machine?
TemodyPickalbatros, IT ManagerAuthor Commented:
yes local admin (administrator)
no AD environment

Hi,

It's a permission issue. Make sure that you have logged in as as domain administrator onto the server in order to run the SQL installation. Usually  LOCAL SERVICE and the NETWORK SERVICE accounts has these rights by default. I believe you would have selected different account during the installation?

Select the appropriate account and re-run the installation.
Problems using Powershell and Active Directory?

Managing Active Directory does not always have to be complicated.  If you are spending more time trying instead of doing, then it's time to look at something else. For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why

Did you use the "Run As Administrator" option to run the setup?
TemodyPickalbatros, IT ManagerAuthor Commented:
OK i think i do but i will do again
TemodyPickalbatros, IT ManagerAuthor Commented:
i forgot to tell you that i update my windows to date and SP1 also
after that i change my computer name before in start installing SQL i am afraid this may be the issue
TemodyPickalbatros, IT ManagerAuthor Commented:
same error with run as administrator

Well, SP1 shouldn't have any impact but changing the server name it may impact. Unfortunaly I'm only a SQL Server guy. Let's wait for some Windows expert to try to help you.

Hi,

SP1 is a prerequisites for SQL 212. There is no issue with SP1. As i said earlier, it was permission. Go to start>>run>>secpol.msc>>In the Local security policy, local security settings>>Local Policies>>Double click User Rights Assignements then then double click "Backup Files and Directories>>In the Backup Files and Directories Properties dialog box, click Add User or Group>>In the Select User or Groups dialog box, type the user account that is being used for setup, and then click OK two times.

Do the same for "Manage auditing and security log", "Debug programs". Perform a gpupdate /force and check the issue.
