Exchange 2013 in Exchange 2010 enviroment question

I have migrated from on premise EX2010 to O365 many months ago.
We still use on premise exchange for some local services such as scan to email, server notifications...

I would like to install EX2013 and would like to know the process
Im thinking

Install EX2013
uninstall EX2010

Is there a demotion process to remove 2010 completly from AD?

Thanks in advance.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

User add/remove program to remove Exchange server properly. Once Exchange 2010 is removed. You can remove server from domain. Then remove Exchange 2010 object from AD. Finally, you can rename the server and use it for other purpose. However, you can also look for 2016. If you want to try out latest version.
