Server 2012 filesharing and Apple's AFP ?

Just curious if anyone has a recommended solution for implementing a new Windows 2012 Standard Server with the majority of PC's being windows but at least 10 or more MAC's also needing to access the data shares.
I understand there are speed issues with afp over Windows SMB etc?
I've found this :-

not sure if this is the best solution to ensure the MAC's work well accessing the data within Windows Server environment?

any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Here is a quick youtube video that shows how to join a mac to AD :

Else you can just connect to the share with finder and specify username and password. It works. I do it all the time.
