asked on

Exchange 2k7 DB slow?

EE,

We have everyone within a database A-B for instance whose mail takes 15 minute to receive even locally.

No longer being the exchange guy since the world left 2003, what can I do to troubleshoot this database without blowing it away or taking it offline to look for whitespace via eseutil?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Is this issue faced only within database A-B or faced for all DBs. Please confirm could you run the following command and paste the outputs

ESEUTIL /MH “Mailbox Database.edb”

Thanks

ASKER

It's the only DB in the Storage Group. I will run the command and report back, thanks both of you.
i dont think you can run eseutil /mh on a mounted databse in exhcnage 2007.
Hi,

Yes you have to unmount the DB and then run the command

Thanks

Due to the extra steps involved when using a DAG (i.e reseeding and figuring out which edb is the copy etc) I'd rather move mailboxes off that store and just wack it. Any thoughts?
Hi,

That's the best option if you don't want any downtime. However to reduce white space in db you can run ESEUTIL /D but however you have to dismount the DB

Thought there was a powershell command to move mailbox es live without locking the source mailbox like in 2010? I could be mistaken.
Hi,

That concept is know as Online mailbox move in Exchange 2010 you can move mailbox either using Exchange management console or using Exchange Management shell. Refer the below link. However you should have minimum Exchange 2007 Sp2

FYI, those links you provided were for 2k10 or migrating to 2k10. I looked it up and there is no way to do this in 2k7.

Thnx
Hi,

Yes those links are if you're migrating to 2010 however if you're moving mailboxes to another DB that will have some downtime

Thanks
