Exchange 2013, Outlook 2013 Searching Calendar issues

We have more than users, some are delegates on other calendars, that are doing searches in the Calendar that get different (incomplete) results compared to doing an advanced find (with the same search term and no new options added or changed),
the search term is on the subject line so should not be hard to find. with regular search we get 5 items. using advanced find we get 24 items (including moved). Is the difference intended by different search types?  I think it is broken and needs fixing. We have tried re-indexing the entire mailbox database on exchange.  We have tried rebuilding the index locally on the workstation.  We have tried starting a new .ost file locally on the workstation in case that was corrupt.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
