Do you get an error message ? if so can you post screenshot of it?

On the other hand, have you tried to specify your paper size within the printer menu?

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers
right click to your printer  printer preferences tab General you should see the menu for paper as well,
Depending on the printer you have someitmes they even come with a utility software to printer where you also select the paper size and different customization

A quick check, in case I setup a paper size in my printer, can I use it to setup my paper size in WORD ?

from the way I see it it should convey the size, go ahead and try one page and see what happens

The width should be 8.5 in and height should be 6 in. However, it doesn't match with what I want...

Suppose, the paper size should be setup exactly in the application and send to the printer, correct ?

set back the dimensions on your printer settings then follow this screenshot
ps. I'm using Word 2010, but it should also apply for newer versions
