connections on ubuntu desktop

I'm using ubuntu desktop as server on temporary enviromment. Thera are limits to connections ? how many connections I can do on ubuntu server.

I'm not sure what you mean with "connections limits". If you are comparing Windows desktop OS's to linux desktops, then you can't compare them. There are basically no differences in desktop or server versions of Linux distro's, besides that the desktop versions have more useless stuff and a GUI installed which you don't need on a server, and that additional software adds extra risk due to possible security holes, and also more processor power is used which is unnecessary. Some server versions are also additionally hardened. Otherwise they are the same and there are no limits in how you use the OS's and how many users use them. The only limits really are defined by the hardware.

And you can change them all to your liking (see limits.conf and sysctl.conf)
