My contacts don't sync between iPhone and Outlook

We have Outlook 2010 and iPhone 6.  We used to have both syncing with no problem.  Recently it just stopped.

Prior placing the question, we went into iPhone and turned off Contact sync in iCloud and activated again so the data in the iCloud would by sync in the phone.  We also deleted and reinstalled the iCloud apps in our Windows 8 PC.  However, if we create or update a contact on the iPhone or Outlook, there is no sync.

How can we regain sync between the two?

Check the number of devices on the users activesync list in AD. If they are at 10, this will happen. Remove devices that have not synced lately.

Hi,

Firstly check these points:

•      Open System Status page to check the issues.
•      Date and time settings of device should be correct.
•      Remove duplicate contacts.

It's not the number of devices, we just have 2.

Sheweta, we checked out your link but could find the instructions.  Can u provide them here? (just FYI, we have iPhone 6+ that used to sync to a Windows 8 pro PC in outlook 2010)

Hi, just read our question and its not outlook to iphone, its iphone to outlook.

If we add/modify/delete a contact in Outlook, it syncs to iCloud then iPhone.  But if we do this on the iPhone, it doesn't sync not even to the iCloud.

It seems that something is blocking from leaving the iPhone to sync.
Some suggestions from this link:

Make sure that iCloud isn’t your default account in Data Files
Make sure that the iCloud Outlook Add-in is on

Check the link for instructions.

Sorry for the delay (been super sick unable to go online).

Checked your link and the only point that is related to our problem is the "default iCloud data files"; we checked and our iCloud isn’t our default account in Data Files.

Again, we noticed that the problem is when we do add/modify/delete in the iPhone, it doesn't sync to the iCloud.  However, when we add/modify/delete in Outlook or directly to iCloud, it DOES sync to the iPhone.

How can we make the modifications in the iPhone sync to the iCloud?
However, when we add/modify/delete in Outlook or directly to iCloud, it DOES sync to the iPhone.

This is different than what you originally described:

However, if we create or update a contact on the iPhone or Outlook, there is no sync.

Does adding a contact to Outlook sync with iCloud and/or the iPhone or not? Is this something that changed since you originally posted, or was the original post incorrect?

If it's just contacts created on the iPhone that's not syncing, then you should check and make sure the iCloud account is the default account for Contacts on the iPhone:

Maybe we should have added "delete" in our "if we create or update a contact on the iPhone" part of the question (sorry about that).  But if can just "create" and "update" in the iphone and then have it sync, we will be much more than satisfy.

Answering your question, yes, adding a contact to Outlook sync with iCloud which in turn the iPhone.

Nothing changed since the original question, we just forgot to add "delete" (but as stated before, with just create & update, will be ok).

Also checked if iCloud account is set as default and it is.
I think you misunderstood the difference I was pointing out. Originally you started that changes made in outlook DIDN'T sync, now you're starting they do.

If the only thing not syncing is the iPhone, then the problem is with the iPhone. Are you sure the correct icloud account is set up as the default for contacts on the iPhone?

Yes, in entry ID: 41153119 we stated that we re-read our question and corrected the description of the problem:

Also, Yes, we have the correct icloud account is set up as the default for contacts on the iPhone (we have "iCloud" account setup as the default)

This is so strange.  The sync been working for the longest with no problem.

We don't have multiple accounts (ex. Exchange, etc.) only the one created in iPhone (or iCloud).

Yet when we went into Setup >> Mail, Contacts, Calendars >> Default Account, we found "Google Sync" (but the default chosen is the iCloud).

Ok we think we got fixed.

Your last entry made us look if there were other accounts in Contacts.  Since iCloud was set as default, we paid no mind to it.  Nevertheless, It did provoke us to ask why we had that account.  After identify from what email that contacts account was from, we proceed to disable CONTATCS from that account.  So now we have only one account: iCloud.

After doing this, we noticed that NOW ALL CAN BE SYNC!

We will proceed to close the question and marking your entry as the one that helped us.

But can you please tell us why when we disabled that google/gmail Contacts from the email created, NOW we can sync?

Please advice.

Though the entry did not directly identified the problem, it did provoked us to identify why we had another account in Contacts (after deleting all can be sync as before).  We have expert to elaborate on why after disabling google contact we an sync.
I can't say how that Google sync account got on the phone, but it seems like the iPhone was syncing with that account for newly created contacts, instead of the icloud account.

What email accounts are set up on the iPhone? If a gmail account was added, it would add a contact sync account as well.

We have over 12 emails but noticed that THAT specific email had Contacts enabled.
