Exchange 2010 all mail stuck in queue

All of the sudden after about midnight last night all outgoing mail is stuck in our queue. Nothing was changed on the receive and send connectors. When going through telnet on the mail server I am getting 550 5.7.1 unable to relay, this is to external addresses. We relay all mail via smarthost and I have confirmed with them that everything is fine on their end.

I have checked under "Server Configuration" mail server properties and the mail server is set to use the NIC's DNS for external DNS. I really do not know where to go from here.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Can you telnet to the smart host on port 25 from the Exchange server?
If so, restart the transport service on the server
Chris ChristensenNetwork AdministratorAuthor Commented:
I cannot and was just called back by our provider to inform me they're having issues.

There is your problem Chris!!!

Yeah, I guess I just took them at their word :)

Moved us over to our other providers smart host and everything is flowing again.

Turned out to be an isp issue and not a server issue.
