how to host a site on your laptop

hi
i have a java based spring web application which i run using jetty. although i can access this locally by typing localhost:8080 on my laptop.
what i want is to keep this application running and let others access the application from other computers. how can this be done ?
also are there any ways i can deploy this application elsewhere without buying a space temporarily so that i dont have to keep it running on my computer all the time.

thanks

Do you want them to be able to access it over the internet or just on your local LAN?

On the local LAN they can presumably access it at Your_IP_ADDRESS:8080 as long as your firewall permits it.

Accessing it over the internet is more difficult and presents obvious security concerns.

Azure and Amazon S3 offer reasonable web hosting..

If they're behind the same LAN then it's no problem and they can access the URL using your IP address with the port appended, such as 192.168.111.222:8080 or something like that. If they're outside your LAN then you will need to configure your router to forward that port to your laptop.

Hi,
What if like my mobile and laptop are connected to the same WIFI.
Now my web application is running on localhost:8080 on my laptop.

typing ifconfig gives me an ip under en0: of my laptop.

But if i type this ip with :8080 port number the page does not load..
what do i need to do inorder to access the application...
In this case i am connected to the same Wifi.

Perhaps your firewall is blocking it?

Try accessing it from another laptop instead. Your mobile might not support Java.

Also, can you ping your Mac using the local IP address?
