Server 2012R2 DNS replication

Short on sleep and mind isn't functioning, but I can't remember where to go on Server 2012R2 to turn off DNS replication. I'm getting ready to dcpromo the 2008R2 DC and transfer roles over to the 2012R2. In the past when I dcpromo  a server if I don't uncheck the DNS replication on the 2012R2 then all entries in my 2012R2 DNS disappear.

First when you want to transfer the roles to 2012r2 you can first replicate the DNS to 2012 server. When you make the AD to active Directory integrated primary zone it gets active directory integrated and gets replicated to 2012. So there is no need to worry, when you want to decommission the server, change the SOA to your windows 2012 server.

Also few tips here:
When migrating to windows 2012 try to install Root CA for windows 2012 as well. This will avoid client / server and server / server authentication through certificate.

Backup your dns file using dnscmd.exe
there are few tools to troubleshoot the dns like nltest, dnscmd, nslookup and even dcdiag with dns switch can help fixing dns errors.

I'll give this a shot shortly. Previously on my lab servers I practiced migrating from 2008R2 to 2012R2 and when I dcpromo the 2008R2 server my DNS disappeared on the 2012R2 server. I hadn't transferred the roles through and that could have been my problem. I had found an article that showed where I could turn off the 2012 server from replicating DNS from the 2008 server so that didn't occur.
