Unable to open WSUS server interface

I recently moved a WSUS 3 server from an internal domain to a corporate one. WSUS runs on Windows Server 2008 R2 server connects to separate SQL DB. Initially all was well, then received errors, clients attempted to download and install updates that did not exist. Searching the internet found suggestion to server reset using, Wsusutil.exe reset command. After running command I can no longer access interface. It opens, but gives error when attempting to read status. Can it be salvaged?

Error I get is "The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server via the remote API. " Attached are the details of the error and some entries from event viewer.

Open the Services snap-in (click Start, click Run, and then type services.msc).

Right-click the World Wide Web Publishing service and select Properties.

On the LogOn tab, clear the Allow service to interact with desktop check box.

Click OK, and then dismiss the Services snap-in.

start CMD, type iisreset.

then try WSUS

The one recommendation did not help. So had to do a new install. Was not ideal but...
