Exchange 2007 server trust relation issue

Exchange 2007 server trust relation issue. I was having an issue with Exchange server and I was able to bring old copy of VM which was 2 years old copy of exchange server. After repairing old vmdk I was able to bring new copy of Exchange VM online but the old vm was online at the same time.
Now after shutting down the old VM I am getting "trust relationship issue" because AD is detecting as duplication ID.
How safe it is for Exchange to remove from domain reset the computer and join it back. Will it make it loose all Exchange based connection point and schema, if I follow this method to get it back to domain?

remove and rejoin is fine but no value for it  as this issue is server SID which related to the windows version installed remove from domain and rejoin wont give you results
as old and current has same sid

just shutdown both and bring one up it will work this way

Well the answer I got from expert was not satisfactory. I already posted my comment about removing and adding to domain. I was looking for a proper process of removing for Exchange server which I found in other forum.
Anyone with desktop troubleshooting would know about removing and adding I was looking correct answer for applying it in server.
