Update local Oracle db from remote MySql db

We have a MySQL database provided by our web hosting site and an Oracle database in our local server at the office.  Is it possible for MySQL to have a trigger that appends a record to our local oracle table?  If so, can you give me some sample code for this?  If not, can you provide an alternate means (maybe via PHP code) of getting data back to our Oracle database from our web host db?  Thanks.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Oracle can connect external databases with ODBC, or with embedded JVM using JDBC.
