Cannot add esxi 5.5 host to vcenter server 5.0.0

Everytime i try to add my host to vcenter server i get the following error:

A general system error has occured: Timed waiting for vpxa to start

I found this article but it didnt help...

I do see something that might be questionable though:

When going through the add new host wizard on the vcenter server the CPU available shows 0:

but when I vshere into the host i want to add directly and look at the available CPU's it says 4:

Could this be the issue and how do i resolve it?

Thank you in advance for your insight!

This is correct, vCenter 5.0 cannot manage ESXi 5.5, and therefore cannot be added. Your vCenter Server version must be the same or higher than the host version.

You *MUST* upgrade to at least vCenter Server 5.5!
