How to populate a drop-down in Excel?

I need to create a small list of 10 items, have them appear in a single drop down and enable one or more items to be checked off.

I have MS Office Professional Plus 2010

Hi there,

Here is what you need to do:

1. Create a list in your spreadsheet with the data you want in your dropdown-box.
2. Go to the cell where you want your dropdown
3. Go to the data-tab -> Data Tools -> Data validation.
4. In the settings-tab use the dropdown to select "List"
5. In the "Source" select the cells you defined in step 1.

Thats it, hope you get it working.

Hi Again,

I just saw that you maybe needed to select multiple records in you drop-down box.
As far as I can see, you need some VBA scripting, and since this is not my cup of tea, I'll just direct you to the two links below, as they seem to get the job done:

are you trying to do some filtering? if yes, you can create the dropdown using existing Filter feature in Excel.
