I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,
no I don't have that.
But to give some info for me these are 2 types of software :
- System Recovery is an image software backup, more designed for physical machine than VM, and has the great ability to possibly restore on a different hardware.
Generally support backup to disk only (no tape)
- BE is a classic backup software, for physical or virtual machine, also for VM the V-Ray edition is far greater than classic edition with a vmware agent, but I heard they are converging the 2 editions in next version soon, don't know if this is really true or not.
Supports backup to disk or to tape.
I think you will surely have a difference in price too.
Don't know if system recovery supports lot of OS, I think the list will be smaller than the BE's one.

But interesting question in a way, because image backup software as System Recovery have been more and more enhanced these past  10 years and now they have scheduling options and FLR (file level restore) option as a standard centralized backup software as BE.
But for FLR for example depending of your target media the restore should be faster with BE.

Are you looking to get a backup/recovery solution?  Backup Exce is a backup/recovery application that's made by Veritas and they were long bought over by Symantec.  The backup exec line is now called symantec backup exec.

If you're looking for a backup/recovery solution I would recommend you check out Acronis Backup.  I have used most of the common backup/recovery and I find that Acronis is a better and cheaper product than BE.  Also, there have been complaints about Symantec support for being very poor.
