xp cannot copy or paste from folder to folder
hi have an older xp machine that will not copy and paste between folders, also have a usb hard drive hooked up to the usb connector but cannot copy and paste from that external drive either, if i have 2 not pad files open i can copy from one to the other and that works.
i have also tried Cnt C Cnt V as well still will not allow me to copy folders.
have tried a restore back to 2 months ago but still did nothing
its my backup printer machine and really need it going
any help would be appreciated

no errors of any type just doesnot copy, hae been able to copy a file occasionaly from c to c but a diff dir

i have stopped all anti spy ware and also did a F8 for a safe start and made no difference/
we have 4 laptops in the house and its is just used as a print server and a little bit if enail work,
and there is about 5 gig of data on the hard drive.
its just convient to use this machine for a data drop, am aware of the issues but its not really and issue in that reespect.
have restarted it several times but have made no difference'
so any ideas apart from whats been already written
