find out exactly what is causing system to freeze - windows 7 64 bit

i have a user that had an old system that was freezing up it was a windows 7 system.
i took and replaced the computer from scratch and the new system freezes as well (locks up in terms of mouse and keyboard, etc..)
What program if any can i run in dos or download for free that will pinpoint what is causing the system to hang up.

It has to be some file that is corrupt or something but i can't pin point it cause the user states it is random. Please help with detailed instructions on what program/commands to run/type.

Thanks!

If you replaced the computer, but not the hard drive, then the problem is in the operating system

Try TDSS Killer (Kaspersky) to look for root kit viruses.
Run Malwarebytes in Safe Mode to get rid of malware.

Restart and run SFC /SCANNOW twice, allow to complete, shut down, start up and then test.

If you continue to have issues after all this, consider formatting and reinstalling Windows.

Hi there,

I had very similar experience with one of my client's laptop. At the end, I had to replace the SSD and rebuild the system in the new SSD.

Cheers,
Jae

>>  What program if any can i run in dos or download for free that will pinpoint what is causing the system to hang up.    <<   that's a good one!  This does not exist (i would like it did)

you can run msconfig (FREE)
select the startup tab, and click disable all
then reboot to test
if it does not happen anymore - one of the disabled programs is the cause, so enable the programs 1 by one, or in groups
