excel equation to add up number based on the entry in a different cell

this is what I want to achieve.

G3:G10 is a list of sub totals
H3:H10 is a list of 'yes' and 'no' as to whether the item is required on first sales or 2nd project complete sales

G16 is a running total of initial sale
G17 is a running total of 2nd project complete sales

How to I get G16 and 17 to self 'add up' given the data in G3:G10 and H3:H10

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Gareth ,

Can you post your sample file along with data or result what you are looking for as i'm not sure what you are looking here to do..

Assuming "yes" relates to "initial sales" and "no" refers to "2nd project complete sales", you can use these formulas...

    G16 =SUMIF(H3:H10, "yes", G3:G10)
    G17 =SUMIF(H3:H10, "no", G3:G10)
