We are having trouble licensing a new Remote Desktop Service Server (Terminal Server). The server is in a workgroup and is not domain connected. We have installed the following roles:
-Remote Desktop Services
-Remote Desktop Session Host
-Remote Desktop Licensing
I have also applied appropriate CALs to licmgnr.exe.
However upon users logging in they receive a message "remote desktop licensing mode is not configured" It then states there are X amount of day remaining in the trial.
Researching this seems to point to going to Server Manager -> Remote Desktop Services -> Overview, then editing deployment properties to select the licensing mode required. However going to Overview displays the message:
"You are currently logged on as a local Administrator. You must be logged on as a domain user to manage servers and collections."
Again note this Server is in the default WORKGROUP not domain connected.
There lies the problem, it seems we cannot use our licenses until we set the licensing mode, however we cannot access the settings for it in Server Manager as it say we need to be a domain user.
