Win 8 keyboard locally reverting to US - CANNOT REMOVE

2 of our users had new domain profiles created a couple of weeks back. The issue these Win8 users have in common is that the new profiles they are using are set with UK as primary languauge. US is listed too - I continually click to remove it but it always comes back and ALWAYS overrides language input settings so that the users physical keyboard is inputting as US (" and @ are the wrong way round, for example).

What makes this harder is that when we try to resolve remotely, our input methods appear to be fine (i.e. not the wrong way round). So this issue looks like it's appearing locally only.

It's becoming a bit annoying and obviously the users are perplexed as to why we cannot revert this - is there not a script I can use or something to FORCE it. Nothing I've tried thus far has helped.

To confirm, I work amongst a team of support engineers - we have already tried the obvious in terms of adding/removing locales etc.

Many thanks.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You need to make the changes with admin privileges for them to stick.  If they are logging into the domain, you might try executing the commands as a STARTUP script.  Barring that, you'll need to make them local admins temporarily.

In the end we had to install the extended English keyboard and show the user how to select it again if it reverted to the US keyboard.
