In place upgrade from 2003 to 2008

I atempted an in place upgrade from server 2003 to 2008.  I was not successful.  It displays the Microsoft Corporation logo and the green sliding bars.  It will not change.  So now I get an option to go to an earlier version of windows.  I would like to remove this from the boot menu and just leave it alone.  I looked in the boot loader in I dont see anything.

if I go to CMD and type "C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Windows\System32\bcdedit" I get the following:

C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Windows\System32>bcdedit

Windows Boot Manager

How do I remove this so it will automatically go into server 2003
