Have applied update for security on an esxi host. Noticed that vm tools running out of date.
Is it going to be a problem with vm if I do not upgrade the vm tools?
or for future choose no-tools vib instead standard?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Not immediately, but I would recommend, that at the next VM Maintenance window, you update it.

VMware Tools must match the ESXi version, otherwise, you will get Out of Date!

if I update no-tools vib then esxi and vm will keep same ver ?

So your VMware Tools will mismatch the ESXi version, and you will not be able to use the in-built Install VMware tools routine, because you do not have an updated VMware Tools in the OS image.
