Finding what tables a certain FK is used

I have a table and a column Matter.Matter_Number. This is NOT an ID.

This Matter_Number is saved to mulitple tables.  When I change Matter.Matter_Number I need to update the various tables where Matter_Number is saved.

Below is a sample.

Matter.Matter_Number = 5423.01
Client.Matter_Number = 5423.01
TBS.Matter_Number = 5423.01
HBM.Matter_Number = 5423.01

Now I want to change Matter_Number to 6423.01 but I can't remember all the tables that have Matter_Number.

How can I do a search to find what tables have Matter_Number?

If you are sure of the consistency of the column name then you can use:

SELECT OBJECT_NAME(object_id) AS TableName, C.name as ColumnName
FROM sys.columns AS C
WHERE name = 'Matter_Number'

This is NOT an ID... and that's a mistake in data model...
Shouldn't you rather think about the data model update?

I'd love to redesign the db if I could but I can't.

Are the involved tables a moving target, eg are new tables with this column created dynamically?
If this is at least somewhat static you can take the result of Brians query to create triggers taking care of the needed cascading of updates.
