I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

From the documentation:
aria-controls: Identifies the element (or elements) whose contents or presence are controlled by the current element.
Its value should be: A list of one or more ID references.

On your page, you've set "menu" as the ID of the element that is controlled by that aria. But I can't see on the page source any element with the ID "menu".

Dan

Thanks Dan!
It was a toggle button left over from the Underscores theme. I actually use a plugin called Responsive Menu. So I removed the toggle code.

I noticed the plugin is including this:

aria-label="Responsive Menu Button"

Will that be enough? I'm not versed in Aria at all!

Enough for?
That's a label, it should not have any effect on the rendering of the page.

Enough to help out the sight impaired know in regards to the responsive menu. I noticed the other code I deleted was an ID.
