SCCM2012sp2 server move to SCCM2012R2sp1

Due to drive issues I have to move my sys center. can anyone point me to a good doc on steps required to get all my clients reporting to this new server. I know I can just change the update server in my gp but I would like to ensure that all clients will connect and properly report to the new server

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This wont work for me as the drive issue made it impossible to backup the db

Can I change a registry setting somewhere???

Hi,

If you have no backup, then no, there is no magic registry key. Your best bet is to install a fresh install on CM and make it your new primary site server. You can export most things from your old server (packages, drivers etc.), and then delete them once you're happy.

I would use it as an opportunity to get everything designed nicely from the start. Get a machine which plenty or RAM, disks, cluster sizes set etc. Spare no detail. Then get a backup schedule up and running and test it. Do a restore somewhere to test it. Don't just rely on the software verification. Your last backup is only as good as your last restore.

Good luck,

Mike
PS: You don't need a GPO to point machines to your SUP. Best config is to have NO domain GPO and let the client install use its local GPO do the work.
