Microsoft Exchange help with service

I have had a report that the The Microsoft Exchange Information store service terminated unexpectedly on my Exchange server. There is a corrective action to restart the service if it fails. Should I check any other service?

In the test event log check it says Exchange IS service terminated failed

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What else is logged on the server?  Have you tried a restart?

I would suggest running eseutil

Hope this helps!

No unfortunately a restart is not an option as its part of a hosted platform. So eseutil isnt an option either

Well at some point you are going to have to check the database...  The most likely cause of the service problem is database corruption...

Simplify Active Directory Administration

Administration of Active Directory does not have to be hard.  Too often what should be a simple task is made more difficult than it needs to be.The solution?  Hyena from SystemTools Software.  With ease-of-use as well as powerful importing and bulk updating capabilities.

The service is set to restart in case of an error, which it has. Should i assume all is OK?
John Gates, CISSPSecurity ProfessionalCommented:
The issue was corrected with a restart but should have started the first time....  I would not be comfortable telling you everything is ok.  The database integrity should at least be checked.  You can perform eseutil checks with the information store online:

OK thanks for the advice. Would you no of what dependency I should check?
John Gates, CISSPSecurity ProfessionalCommented:
On the service itself you can go to the dependancies tab and see what the service depends on.  See if those services are running or logging any errors.  I have worked with exchange a long time and the database is almost always at fault for service startup issues.
