Can't run StorCli Commands

Hi,

I have Intel® RAID Controller RS3DC080 RAID controller on a Intel Server. I wanted to check the status of RAID controller, so I downloaded  StorCLI Phase 2.0 from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25355/StorCLI-Phase-2-0 and copied .vib file to VMWare host and installed the vib file "esxcli software vib install -v=\tmp\vmware-esx-storcli-1.16.06.vib" thru Putty.
But when I tried to run storecli commands like below, I get an error:

[root@localhost:/opt/lsi/storcli] storecli -v
-sh: storecli: not found

Can you help?

also try

./storecli -v

when you are in the /opt/lsi/storcli folder.

can you also check with ls -al that there is a program called storcli

have you checked the vib was installed correctly ?

also check the vib is for the hardware and version of ESXi you are using.

Storcli(1) " When you are in the /opt/lsi/storcli folder". ---> Please see the screenshot
(2) " ls -al "  ---> Please see the screenshot
(3) "have you checked the vib was installed correctly ?" --> a first couple of lines from the top of result:

[root@localhost:/opt/lsi/storcli] esxcli software vib list
Name                           Version                               Vendor  Acceptance Level  Install Date
-----------------------------  ------------------------------------  ------  ----------------  ------------
vmware-esx-storcli-1.16.06     1.16.06-01                            LSI     PartnerSupported  2015-10-31

(4) "check the vib is for the hardware and version of ESXi you are using." --> I installed ESXi v6.
This file does not say whether it is for ESXi v5.5 or v6.

StorCLI Phase 2.0
File name: StorCli_v1.16.06.zip
Version: 1.16.06 (Latest) Date: 09/23/2015 Size: 35.79 MB
Operating Systems: OS Independent

When i unzip the downloaded file, it created three folders that are applicable to vmware.
both VMware-MN and VMware-MN-NDS had the same file name with except the file size is slightly different

VMware\StorCli.zip                              VMware Utility
VMware-MN\vmware-esx-storcli-X.XX.XX.vib       VMware-MN utility  1,905kb
VMware-MN-NDS\vmware-esx-storcli-X.XX.XX.vib       VMware-MN utility   1,901kb

I installed both, but each time reboot was NOT required. I rebooted the server after install anyway.

there is a typo, you are not typing it correctly!

looking at the file and output...

the file name is storcli no e!

so

./storcli -v

My bad. Here is the result of the command with correct syntax:
[root@localhost:/opt/lsi/storcli] ./storcli -v

Thank you.
what is the difference between ./storcli -v and storcli -v when the file "storcli" is in current directory?
In Windows environment, as long as OS can find the file, it would execute the command.
Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
Unix/LInux standard method to access applications.

the . (dot) means go up a directory and execute from there, standard security on Unix/Linux.

The is also true of Unix/Linux, if you had the path defined!
