Windows 2012 Standard Active Directory Sync to 365 Portal?

Hi I've been asked by a client if they can have all their Active Directory groups and info sync up into their Office 365 account.
Is this straight forward to have a consistent sync between the AD and 365 portal?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Has anyone got experience with this and what is the considered the easiest way ?
CRL ltdAuthor Commented:
It's only for a small 40 users network and only really want the benefit to keep user password and AD groups and permissions in sync with 365 etc.

Also I'm not clear if any of these sync tools are actually free?

The sync tools are free, and very easy to set up. If you need detailed instructions check for example here:
