I am trying to figure out how to omit file contents from being indexed and displayed when a search is performed. We only want it to index and search on the file names and other metadata.
Unfortunately, I have a limited knowledge of sharepoint and have never used it until we rolled to office365 a few months ago. I am the administrator so please point me in the correct direction.
I found this article but it still doesn't get me to where I am looking for. The attached pic shows some properties called content but when I go into them they are grayed out.
I was also told by a friend that full text search could be turned off but I believe his instructions were for an onsite installation. He says when you are in the SharePoint Central Administration go under component configuration and deselect full text search and index components. I didn't see this anywhere in the online version.
Bottom line is the users want to be able to search and not have document content show up in the results.
