Www.contoso.com/folder/ doesnt work, www.contoso.com/folder works

Hi guys

We have a website written in php and css. Sitting in a linux platform.

When we access www.contoso.com/folder it works but www.contoso.com/folder/ with the extra forward slash doesnt.

Any ideas how i can fix this peeps?

Thanks
Yashy

You could use a rewrite rule to remove trailing slashes

<rule name="Remove trailing slash" stopProcessing="true">
<match url="(.*)/$" />
<conditions>
<add input="{REQUEST_FILENAME}" matchType="IsFile" negate="true" />
<add input="{REQUEST_FILENAME}" matchType="IsDirectory" negate="true" />
</conditions>
<action type="Redirect" redirectType="Permanent" url="{R:1}" />
</rule>

Hey Michael,

Is this for a Windows platform? As our site has been written in PHP on a Linux platform?

Thanks for your help on this

Sorry about that. For Apache you would use mod_rewrite
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/mod/mod_rewrite.html

This rule will remove trailing slashes from URLS
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^\.localhost$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)/+$ $1 [R=301,L]
