vswitch and vmkernel port group

Have a question about "teaming and fairer setting " in a switch and its port group.
The switch is going to have a vmkernel port. The vmkernel port "teaming and failover" setting has to ip " route based on originating port"
Should i set this at switch or at port group?

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You should set at the switch, and to be safe make sure the port group also has the same settings.

Thanks Andrew, Do we have to enter VLAN id too?
Say for an example, the physical switch is configured the virtual network for VLAN40. Do we have to enter VLAN40 in the switch or does not matter?

A VLANs is specific to a portgroup.

If you use tagged VLANS, these will need to be entered, on the portgroup.
